[SMM Analysis: Peak Season Purchase Expectations Remain, SiMn Exports Increase in April] According to the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs, SMM statistics show that China's SiMn exports in April 2025 were 3,423.25 mt, up 277.45% MoM. The cumulative exports from January to April were 8,400 mt, down 46.67% YoY. China's SiMn imports in April 2025 were 426.32 mt, down 70.97% MoM. The cumulative imports from January to April were 4,300 mt, down 38.97% YoY. The reason for the increase in April exports is that during the peak season for regular purchases by overseas steel mills, their enthusiasm for SiMn procurement continued to rise, leading to a MoM increase in SiMn ferroalloy exports. From the perspective of import and export data, the main source of SiMn exports is Kazakhstan, while the main source of imports is Indonesia.

Before the holiday, the black chain is unlikely to see a trend-driven market [SMM Steel Industry Chain Weekly Report].
This week, ferrous metals were in the doldrums, with coking coal and coke staging a mid-week rise. At the beginning of the week, financial markets experienced sharp fluctuations, dragging down sentiment in the ferrous chain and leading to a pullback in futures. Mid-week, Indonesia's cut to coke production quotas drove coking coal and coke futures to lead the gains, though the impact was more pronounced on thermal coal, while coking coal's rise was largely sentiment-driven and short-lived. In the latter part of the week, finished products continued their seasonal inventory buildup, and support from the raw material side weakened, causing the entire ferrous chain to pull back. In the spot market, with the Chinese New Year holiday approaching, purchasing activity slowed down further, with end-users only making limited, as-needed purchases at low prices.
